Delivery Day!!!

Today was delivery day! It went better than expected. The lady I bought them from had her dad bring his trailer and deliver. He drove in and pulled to just beyond the enclosure door and we opened everything up and they went right to the food. Both seem to be settling in just fine. They don't seem to know what carrots are but Willow discovered dried apple for the very first time and deemed that DELICIOUS!!!
Here are a few pictures from today.
As always,
Peace and Good Blessings,
Angie

Still on for Sunday...

Well, its still on-going.  :) The lady emailed me to say that she found a trailer for sunday if I'm still up to it.
I'm worried sick. We went up Monday and came back empty handed. He's a small horse but not sure of his size, he may be a small horse and not a mini at all. Not like it matters one way or another. I'm a bit of a mutt myself, I won't discriminate. So, I get out there and the husband is holding a preposterously small halter in his hand. I look at both horse and goat and decide the halter MIGHT fit the goat but there's no way it's going on Willow. Which tells me also that they neglected to say anything about the fact that he's likely not even been in a halter since babyhood. I'm gonna have my work cut out for me. He's more wild than tame and the little pygmy goat is a spazz! I think I saw its hooves touch ground a couple of times while we were there! That one is gonna be a challenge!
Willow looked okay. He was standing in a mud pit so no clue on his feet but there were also more pressing issues like the fact that he was scared silly. Apparently the owner slaughtered a pig in the same enclosure and it was hanging up, bleeding out in the falling down barn that horse, goat and piggy shared. (Face palm... who slaughters an animal with other animals present? Who attempts to load a horse in a trailer while wearing blood covered boots and coveralls?) Criminy...
Anyway, they tell me they will bring them on Sunday... we shall see. IF it does in fact happen on sunday, I intend to put both in the enclosure with lots of fresh water and food, bedding and so forth and try to bring a sense of peace and calm.
The poor babies were as wild eyed as you can imagine. No food anywhere at all that I could see. Mud about 6 inches deep, everywhere.
That was Monday and I havent heard anything back from her since monday night. I said of course, we were still up for it and offered to meet her as early as yesterday to bring her feed for them if she needed it. I know she needed it, it was obvious, but she hasn't emailed back. So, here I sit, worrying over whether or not they eat this week at all. It snowed hard tuesday, so there's that. I would assume standing on snow might be easier on the feet than standing in mud...maybe...
Dang, huh?
I am trying hard not to be annoyed with people, as that serves no purpose and I am fully aware that people sometimes get in over their heads. This is clearly a case of that. I just want to get them here so they can dry out and eat and not be terrified!
Thanks for listening...
Good Blessings,
Angie

More news on little Willow!

It was just yesterday that I put my first payment down on him, wasn't it?

Today the lady explains to me that her and her husband are wanting to move. There's a job offer if her husband can get there soon enough. She has pigs and goats and little Willow to deal with before they can even think about moving and so, she asked me if I'd be ok with speeding up the process, maybe in the next three weeks or so? She was very apologetic...
I understand in this economy that you have to do what you have to do and it sure is harder when you have multitudes of animals. She asked rather or not I might be interested in a female pygmy goat as well?

Haha man alive this is zooming right along! Looks like I may be getting little Willow really soon. We'll see what she wants to do about the goat but sure, why not a goat?

I also found out that Willow has his own halter and he likes it. She says he likes to be on a lead rope and follow her around. That's happy news!
Anyway, she was kind enough to send me a couple more pictures and I was eager to share them with you!
He sure is a fuzzy little thing, isn't he? Looks to me like we should be fast friends!

A mini farm? Perhaps, after all...

Peace and good blessings,
Angie

Whimsy

This is the dreaming segment of our blog!
This is Willow. He is a yearling Miniature Horse.
He lives about an hour away from me and I discovered him on a craigs-list ad.
Over the last few months, I've kind of become a pen-pal with the lady that owns him.

A few years ago, a friend dropped off several miniature horses. She's cared for them, but from what I've gathered, this was never really her passion. She's sold all of Willow's buddies and he's been alone in a pasture for a couple of months now.

She's patiently answered my many questions while being fully aware, that I am a housewife with no income.
I've fallen in love with this little guy though.

She's really not asking much. Her adoption fee is $200.00. It is my hope to raise twice that much so that I can feed him until the grass grows high in the pasture this spring.

As many of you know, I am an avid gardener. Life has blessed us with a piece of property with 29 acres.
I grow lots of flowers and vegetables for my family in my organic gardens. I also raise turkeys, chickens and young people. (Not necessarily in that order!) you can read about that here: http://agardenamongsttheweeds.blogspot.com/

This year I have enough seed to offer this $7 butterfly and bee garden special:http://flowersandwhimsy.blogspot.com/

$5.00 goes towards adopting Willow, the other $2.00 goes towards shipping your seeds to you!

Peace and Good Blessings,
Angie

Welcome!!!

Bees and butterflies are a good indicator of our environmental health.
Do you hope to have a flower garden this year?

Would you like to attract bees and butterflies to your garden?

Have you ever planned and dreamed all winter, of what next year's gardens will look like, only to find upon opening the expensive seed packages that you spent your hard earned money on, that the seeds inside were either far too few or mostly just dust due to poor packaging?

Larkspur
Hollyhock
Mammoth Sunflower
Sweet William
Black Eyed Susan

Here are 5 easy to grow selections from my garden to yours.
All seeds are organically grown and open pollinated, which means that you can save the seeds from this year's blooms to grow next year, saving you money in the long run.

I am offering the bee and butterfly package for $5.00 plus $2.00 shipping.
The packaging is plain, no frills here, just good quality garden seed and alot of it!
Please send inquiries to ladyfern1@gmail.com

Hoping this growing season finds you surrounded by Flowers and Whimsy!

Peace and good blessings,
Angie
